Box Office Report: New #1 and Summer's Biggest

We've finally got a new #1 this weekend. Tropic Thunder has topped the Box Office chart this weekend bringing in $26 million. Enough to send The Dark Knight packing to #2. This movie, however, is still grossing a lot more money that new movies like the new animated Star Wars flick. The Dark Knight pulled in $16 million to bring its amazing grand total to 471 million dollars - that's more than enough to make The Dark Knight the second highest-grossing film of all time in the US only behind Titanic which stands at 600 million dollars.

Now, instead of talking about the other insignificant debuts this weekend, let's do a short recap of this summer's huge movie hits and how much they've made. Firt up, Iron Man which managed to collect $317 million in 16 weeks - the DVD for this movie comes out September 30th. Can't wait to buy that. Next, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, flick that managed to make a great $315 million. Huge stuff. Will Smith's Hancock collected 225 million dollars and Disney Pixar's Wall-E has made $214 million so far. Finally, Dreamwork's Kung Fu Panda grossed in $211 million.

Huge summer hits, big numbers, great movies. For a full report, click here.

Weekend Box Office Report: The Love Guru Flops

When a movie is bad, you just know it. Despite having a massive amount of promotion over the past three months, The Love Guru starring Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake only managed to collect an extremely dissapointing 14 million dollars on its opening weekend, debuting just at #4! Sad. The movie that did make a high debut at #1 was Get Smart, which pulled in a great $40 million, this movie actually had little promotion compared to that of The Love Guru, yet it made quite a nice debut on top.

Moving on to #2, we find Kung Fu Panda, film that on its third week collected $21.7 million for a total of $155 million so far - impressive.

The Incredible Hulk falls to #3 collecting 21.5 million dollars on its second week for a total so far of $96 million. Not bad.

One film did cross the $300 million dollar mark this weekend, and that's Iron Man - which was released last month to a huge opening and on its eigth week, the film now stand at $304 million thanks to the extra $4 million that it grossed this weekend. Now, get ready for this: The film's total worldwide stands at an incredible 555 million dollars! Oh, but that's not the biggest numbers we found this week. Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has collected a ridiculous $650 million worldwide so far. Unbelieveable!

Next week comes Disney Pixar's Wall-E which is expected to debut with big numbers as well. Can't wait for that one.

Box Office Report: Kung Fu Panda Starts at #1

Kung Fu Panda makes splashing debut at #1 on this weekend's top box office debut! The Dreamworks film starring Jack Black grossed in $60 million over the past few days making enough to fall right in at #1. The film is great, I definitely recommend it for all ages and anyone who really wants to watch it!

You Don't Mess with the Zohan also makes a great debut at #2 bringing in $40 million. Together, the top two spots grossed 100 million dollars! Impressive. The comedy film starring Adam Sandler has already made half of its budget. Great news to them.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull falls one spot to #3 still taking in $22 million to add to their now total of 253 million dollars. Talk about a summer blockbuster! The film's total worldwide stands at an impressive $520 million! This film is on its way to being one of the highest grossing films of all times. Harrison Ford must be beyond happy.

Sex and the City fall three spots to #4 but managed to take in a very good $21 million, their total now is of $100 million, which is way more than they expected to collect.

Iron Man is another of this year's huge movies. This weekend, the film is found at #6 adding to its now total of $288 million! The movie's worldwide gross is of $530 million, this film is right up there with Indy. Crazy numbers!

Sex and the City Makes High Box Office Debut

The film for the HBO series Sex and the City made a fairly debut at the top of the box office grossing over $55 million, which is more than great. Looks like I wasn't the only guy ditched by a girlfriend this week so she could hang out and watch that movie. Sheesh! Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came in at number two making another $46 million on its second week, its total now stands at $216 million - they're now making a profit. Congrats to them. The Strangers came in at #3 making just over $20 million... not so bad considering they had a very cheap budget of just $9 million, they've already made twice that amount. Finally, at #4 we find Iron Man, film that grossed another $14 million to add to their US total of $276. Incredible. To check out a full report, click here.

Indiana Jones' Massive #1 Debut

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released on Thursday, and since then the movie has grossed in a total of 126 million dollars! That's incredible, way to make a come back to the big screen! The movie was made on a $185 million dollar budget, but they're not going to have any problem getting that cash back and making a huge profit in the end. Now, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian falls to #2 taking in $23 million to add up to their now total of $91 million. However, the movie's total world wide stands at $113 million so far, they still have a bit to get to their budget of $200 million. Moving on to one of the most successful flicks this summer, Iron Man at #3, check this out, the movie has now grossed $252 million in the US but world wide it has collected 460 million dollars! Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones films, and first one in nearly twenty years. Interesting, isn't it? It's good to see that they've kept Harrison Ford on his original role, despite his age. Props to them for that. The film will be released on May 22, 2008, while we wait, here's the official movie poster.
