The Dark Knight Still at #1!

For three straight weeks The Dark Knight has sat on top of the Box Office collecting millions day after day. This weekend was no different as the film managed to remain at #1 collecting another $43 million to add to its now domestic total of 394 million dollars! If the film continues at this pace, it could become the highest-grossing film in America and possibly in the entire world.

At #2 came in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor which managed to make $42 million - pretty close to what I predicted. The film could've made a lot more if it weren't had been reviewed so badly by critics.

Finally, at #5 came in Swing Vote which made only $6 million. For a full report, click here.

Out on Theatres Today 8/1

Hitting the big screen today, August 1st is The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The film has gotten terrible reviews from critics which will hurt its performance a little in the box office, my question is: will this movie make enough to snatch the #1 away from the record-breaking film The Dark Knight? If I had to make a bet, I'd say that The Dark Knight will stay at #1 and make around $50 million during the weekend, while The Mummy 3 will come in at #2 making somewhere from $25 million to $40 million. We'll see how close I come.

Other film out today is Swing Vote... not sure what it is about exactly, I've only seen the trailer a few times and it hasn't caught my attention. I doubt it will make a big box office debut considering it will only open in a little over 2,000 screens in the US compared to The Mummy's 3,700.
