Weekend Box Office Report: The Love Guru Flops

When a movie is bad, you just know it. Despite having a massive amount of promotion over the past three months, The Love Guru starring Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake only managed to collect an extremely dissapointing 14 million dollars on its opening weekend, debuting just at #4! Sad. The movie that did make a high debut at #1 was Get Smart, which pulled in a great $40 million, this movie actually had little promotion compared to that of The Love Guru, yet it made quite a nice debut on top.

Moving on to #2, we find Kung Fu Panda, film that on its third week collected $21.7 million for a total of $155 million so far - impressive.

The Incredible Hulk falls to #3 collecting 21.5 million dollars on its second week for a total so far of $96 million. Not bad.

One film did cross the $300 million dollar mark this weekend, and that's Iron Man - which was released last month to a huge opening and on its eigth week, the film now stand at $304 million thanks to the extra $4 million that it grossed this weekend. Now, get ready for this: The film's total worldwide stands at an incredible 555 million dollars! Oh, but that's not the biggest numbers we found this week. Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has collected a ridiculous $650 million worldwide so far. Unbelieveable!

Next week comes Disney Pixar's Wall-E which is expected to debut with big numbers as well. Can't wait for that one.

Box Office Report: Incredible Hulk is NĂºmero Uno!

That's right. Opening at #1 this weekend is The Incredible Hulk, and although the numbers were lower than expected, they were more than enough to secure the film a number one debut, grossing $54 million over the past three days. At number two we find Kung Fu Panda that managed to collect a great $34 million on its second week of release. The films current total stands at an incredible $117 million. Awesome. Now, making a debut at #3 we find The Happening, film that grossed a cool $30 million, not too bad. It's already made back of its budget. Out next week will be The Love Guru and Get Smart , but the one I'm really waiting for is Disney Pixar's Wall-E coming out June 27! Can't wait for that one.

Out on Theatres Today! 6/13

The Incredible Hulk has been released to the big screen today! The film follows Banner as he flees the pursuit of General Ross while attempting to find a cure to rid himself of the Hulk. When Blonsky personally volunteers to be injected with Banner's gamma formula to aid Ross in his capture, he becomes an even greater monster, and Banner must accept his inner beast to defeat Blonsky. Interesting, can't wait to watch this one. I see it opening with huge numbers this weekend. Click here for movie's Trailer.

Another film opening today is The Happening. The plot revolves around a pandemic of unknown cause that is spreading across the northeast of the US, mysteriously within well-defined borders. Victims experience loss of speech and physical disorientation; they freeze, and then unfreeze to commit suicide: people jump from buildings, shoot or hang themselves, one feeds himself to lions in the zoo, some cut themselves with a hairpin, barbed wire, glass, or a grass mower, drive into a tree, etc. The protagonist, a science teacher named Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg), flees together with his estranged wife, Alma Moore (Zooey Deschanel) and the 8-year-old daughter Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez) of Elliot's best friend, Julian (John Leguizamo), a math teacher, while Julian tries to reach his wife. The rest of the film follows them on their journey. They travel by train until the train stops at a small station, and train services are discontinued. Then they get a ride, and after that proceed on foot. Click here for movie's Trailer.

Which one to watch? I guess I'll have to go see both this weekend. Check out the movie trailers. Enjoy.
