Britney Spears on the Cover of Glamour

Britney Spears appears on the cover of the January 2009 issue of Glamour magazine. Although she looks very nice, I must say I do wish they had gone a little easier on the photoshop.

Christina Aguilera Live at CNN Heroes

Christina Aguilera recently performed her hit single "Beautiful" live at CNN Heroes. Great vocals in this performance, but she needs to change that hair style soon, it doesn't make her look good. Check it out!

Four Christmases, Australia and Transporter 3

It's late weekend, but before we get the official Box Office numbers, these are the films that were released on November 26th to the big screen.

With the widest release this weekend, and the future #1 movie is the Vince Vaughn/Reese Witherspoon romantic holiday flick Four Christmases. Great film which was called "one of the most joyless Christmas movies ever" by the Hollywood Reporter. It's been estimated that this movie could surpass the 40 million dollar mark over the long weekend. Not bad at all.

Also out right now is Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The film takes place in Northern Australia in 1939, Lady Sarah Ashley, an English aristocrat, inherits a cattle station southwest of Darwin, owned by her late husband. When Australian cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn stock-man, the Drover (Hugh Jackman) to drive the cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Finally, the action-packed film Transporter 3 hits the big screen opening to many mixed reviews.

Not a bad weekend for movies. Later on, the official box office numbers for these releases!

Hot Pick: The Veronicas- "Untouched"

Time for some hot music from down under! Twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso formed the duo The Veronicas in 2005 and released the single "4ever" to major success in their home country Australia. Their debut album The Secret Life of... was eventually certified 4x Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association. And although fairly recognized by the American public, their debut album was a flop in the States. Now, they're giving this market another shot after releasing the single "Untouched" which has been received great by radio stations and picked up by Z100 New York, the #1 radio station for hit music in the USA. "Untouched" is the first single to be released from their album Hook Me Up in stores now. Check out the video, great song.

Britney Spears- "Circus" [Video Sneak Peek]

Britney Spears has released a teaser for what will be the music video for the song "Circus", the second single to be released from the album of that same name which hits stores on December 2nd. The video looks like early Madonna and a little bit of Christina Aguiera's "Hurt" music video... you'll see what I mean. She does look great though, check it out.

Billboard 200: Beyoncé Starts at #1

Beyoncé scores her third straight No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 this week as the double-disc "I Am ... Sasha Fierce" (Music World/Columbia) shifts a whopping 482,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The album, split between material credited to Beyoncé and her new alter-ego Sasha Fierce, has already spawned the hits "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Beyoncé's 2003 solo debut, "Dangerously in Love," started with 317,000, while 2006's "B-Day" moved 541,000.

In a week with seven top 20 debuts, Nickelback's "Dark Horse" (Roadrunner) sold 326,000 to start at No. 2. The Canadian rock outfit spent an astonishing 156 weeks on the chart with its prior album, 2005's "All the Right Reasons," which is at 6.97 million to date.

Reigning American Idol champion David Cook's self-titled 19 Recordings/RCA debut arrives at No. 3 with 280,000. That's more than double the first-week numbers of 2007 champ Jordin Sparks' self-titled debut, which sold 119,000 copies on its first week .

Last week's No. 1, Taylor Swift's "Fearless" (Big Machine), slips to No. 4 on a 63% sales decline to 217,000. New at No. 5 is multi-national vocal group Il Divo's "The Promise" (Syco/Columbia) with 162,000. The act's previous album, 2006's "Siempre," debuted at No. 17 with 108,000.

Pink has finally released the music video for "Sober", which is the second single taken from her album Funhouse, in stores now. Excellent video for an excellent song. You must check this one out!

Taylor Swift Breaking Records All Around

The album chart isn't the only thing country cutie Taylor Swift is taking by storm. With the song White Horse, the 18-year old wonder scored her sixth top 20 debut - just this year alone! According to reports, that's a calendar-year record for any artist in the 50-year history of the chart. She breaks the record of five, set this summer by the Jonas Brothers. This achievement also ties her for second place with Mariah Carey and the Beatles for the most top 20 debuts in a career.

Incredible! Congrats Taylor! =D

Twilight Opens at #1!

It's a huge box office start for Twilight! The movie managed to collect an impressive 70 million dollars on its opening weekend. Reportedly, the film was made only on a budget of $37 million - so they've already made back twice that amount. Congrats to them. Down at #2 we find the Quantum of Solace, which brought in another $27.4 million to is total, which now stands at $109 million. Not bad at all. Finally, at #3 debuts the 3D cartoon flick Bolt making $27.0 million over the weekend. Now, for a full report, click here.

New Kids on the Block- "Dirty Dancing" [Video]

No word if this is the official international music video for "Dirty Dancing", but this video above was released in Germany as the third single from the New Kids on the Block's newest album The Block. Check it out. Good song, bad video.

ANTM: CoverGirl Photoshoot + Winner Shoot.

McKey
Samantha - Analeigh

McKey & Tyra

There you go. The final America's Next Top Mode photoshoot which was a CoverGirl ad. The winner (McKey) will have her ad picture on a billboard in New York City. Also, I posted the winner photoshoot of Tyra and McKey.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

McKey Sullivan is America's Next Top Model!

19 year-old McKey Sullivan has been crowned as the winner of the eleventh season of America's Next Top Model. McKey is one of the best, if not the best winner this show has seen yet. The runner-up this season was 18 year-old Samantha Potter. Two very young contestants on top in the end. This is also the second time that a contestant wins without having any appearances on the bottom two. The first was Jaslene Gonzales, the winner of Cycle 8.

A new season of America's Next Top Model will start February 2009 - while we wait and until then, I leave you with McKey's best pictures. Congratultions to her for the win. Keep checking back though, I'll be posting the pictures from the final shoot tomorrow.
Ps: 40% of The Best Damn Blog's visitors thought McKey would be the winner - good guess! However, the majority of you (49%) thought Analeigh Tipton would be the winner, she ended up in third place. Surprisingly Samantha Potter only received 11%... ouch.

Next Week: Sales Prediction!

Double dose of Beyoncé and her alter ego will grab the top spot on the Sales chart next week, as her two-CD Music World/Columbia set, I Am… Sasha Fierce, will debut at #1 with 500-550k in sales, according to those hardy retailers who still have their doors open.

The real tussle will be right below that for #2, as a debuting RCA/RMG’s David Cook and Roadrunner’s Nickelback go head-to-head with this week’s chart-topper, Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, in her second week. All look to be in the 300k range, mas o menos.

Next week should be an interesting week. Can't wait to see who will pull up at #2.

Blogging for a Good Cause : Fur is Dead

As some loyal visitors know, I'm a strong Fur is Dead supporter and every chance I get, I try to encourage visitors into learning more about this issue and getting involved to help stop animal abuse. Many people might not be aware of this, but thanks to Fur is Dead, we learn that to kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned.

That's not the only form of abuse though. In the wild, animals can languish in traps for days. Up to 1 out of every 4 trapped animals escapes by chewing off his or her own feet, only to die later from blood loss, fever, gangrene, or predation. In fact, every year, thousands of dogs, cats, raptors, and other so-called "trash" animals are crippled or killed by traps.

Imagine the pain these poor innocent animals go through just because people like us want to use their skin for idiotic fashion purposes. Please, take a moment to visit PETA.org or FURISDEAD.com to learn more and become involved. One by one we can help stop animal cruelty!

Jesse McCartney- "It's Over" [Music Video]

Jesse McCartney has released the second single from his album Departure. Although "Leavin'" was a radio smash and a Top 10 hit, the album has sold extremely low - it has not sold over 200,000 copies. He's still trying and in hopes of reviving album sales, he released the video of "It's Over". Check it out. Enjoy.

Out Today!

Easily one of my favorite movies of the year has been released today on DVD and BluRay. Disney Pixar's WALL-E will be making its debut, likely on top of DVD sales this week. I'm on my way to buy this one. Music wise, Beyoncé is releasing her album I Am... Sasha Fierce. David Cook is releasing his self-titled debut album and Nickleback are releasing their sixth studio album Dark Horse. I'll be picking up a copy of Cook's and Nickelback's albums as well. Good week for entertainment releases!

Christina Aguilera Target Commercial

Christina Aguilera has done an exclusive commercial for Target in which she is seen promoting her Greatest Hits album, Keeps Gettin' Better. Check it out!!

Latin Hot Pick: Fanny Lú- "Tú No Eres Para Mi"

For all my latino visitors, this hot pick is for you! Fanny Lú is a Colombian singer who rose to fame in 2006 after releasing her award-winning debut album. Now, she's back with a new single titled "Tú No Eres Para Mi". A great song which will easily become a Billboard Latin Chart Topper. The video is great, very entertaining. By the way, That 70's Show actor Wilmer Valderrama is featured in the video. The song is taken from her sophomore album Dos. Check it out! Enjoy.

Rihanna- "Rehab" [Music Video]

Is Rihanna planning to release a video for every song on her album Good Girl Gone Bad? It looks as so, because the singer has released the 7th music video from this album! In average, artists release only four singles from an album! Either that, or she's trying to make us tired of her. Ha ha. Whatever the case is, she has now released the music video for the song "Rehab" featuring Justin Timberlake - who's made an appearance in the video. Check it out!

Weekend Box Office: 007 #1

Christmas season is fastly approaching, and with it, the many holiday movies. However, before they start to be relesed, we had time to fit in a pure action film that murdered the box office over the weekend. Quantum of Solace grossed in an amazing $70 million, more than enough to place the film at #1 at the box office. Moving on to #2, we find Dreamwork's Madagascar 2. The film managed to collect another $36 million, bringing its total up to $118 million. Now, like always... for a full report, click here.

Video of the Week: Papa Roach- "Scars"

It's back to 2004 with the new Video of the Week! Papa Roach are mostly known for their heavy rock music, however, four years ago they surprised the world by releasing the ballad "Scars" which became an instant hit in many countries. It's a terrific song, if you know it - you know it's great. If not, I guarantee you'll like it. Enjoy.

Pink's Second Single From Funhouse

After the massive success of her past single "So What", Alecia Moore, better known as Pink is ready to release the second single from her number one album Funhouse. For this release, she decided to pick the ballad "Sober" a great song with a lot of meaning behind it. Check it out above! Can't wait to see the music video, which was filmed in Sweden.

Out Today: Quantum of Solace

Out today comes Quantum of Solace. The film continues one hour after the events of Casino Royale with Bond driving from Lake Garda to Siena, Italy — with the captured Mr White in the boot of his car — when he is attacked by chasing henchmen. After evading his pursuers, Bond and M interrogate White regarding his organisation, Quantum. M's trusted bodyguard Craig Mitchell turns traitor — allowing White to escape — so Bond chases Mitchell across Siena and kills him. Through forensic investigations involving tracked banknotes, Bond heads to Haiti to find Mitchell's contact, Edmund Slate, and kills him. He then poses as him, learning Slate was sent to kill Camille Montes at the behest of her partner, Dominic Greene, the ruthless chairman of Greene Planet and a member of Quantum. Bond pursues her by motorbike and watches her meet with Greene, learning the businessman is helping General Medrano — who murdered Camille's family — to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of desert land.

Siunds interesting enough.

Juanes & John Legend @ Latin Grammy Awards

Juanes performed a medley of his single "Me Enamora" and "Odio Por Amor" at the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. He also performed the song "If You're Out There" in duet with R&B singer John Legend, who took on the tough challenge to sing completely in spanish. This is one amazing performance. Gabe bows down to the greatness. Enjoy.

Juanes Wins Big at the '08 Latin Grammy Awards

Colombian rocker Juanes was the big winner during the ninth annual Latin Grammy Awards Thursday at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. He swept all five categories in which he was nominated.

"I can't believe this,'' he said after winning Album of the Year for La Vida ... Es Un Ratico, his fourth solo album. "This is impressive.''

"Colombia - this is for you.''

Juanes also took home trophies for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Album and Short Form Music Video. That brings his Latin Grammy total to 17 awards, more than any other artist has ever won.

Congrats to him! I'll be posting his performance with John Legend later on, it was pure greatness.

Kellie Pickler Live at the 2008 CMA Awards

Kellie Pickler has come a long way since her days on American Idol. She has released two albums which debuted at #1 on the country charts, and has released her share of Top 20 hits. The country sweetheart rocked the stage at the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, where she sang her newest single "Best Days of Your Life". An unexpected performance, sexy, strong and amazing overall. Check it out! Great stuff.

Get Involved: Who Do You Think Will Win ANTM?

I can't say which one of these three beautiful girls will win the 11th season of America's Next Top Model. All three have been strong contestants from the start. This is easily the tightest Top 3 in this show's history. Now, I'm asking for the opinion of the Best Damn Blog's visitors once again. New question, who do you think will be the new winner of ANTM? Take a look at their individual pictures and read their positions week after week in the elimination call-out order to help you make up your mind.

- Analeigh: (9 - 11 - 11 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 1) -
- McKey: (3 - 5 - 4 - 5 - 3 - 3 - 5 - 1 - 2 - 2) -
- Samantha: (6 - 6 - 3 - 9 - 1 - 4 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 3) -

America's Next Top Model: 12th Photoshoot

I had somewhat of an idea - now i'm clueless. After last night's episode of America's Next Top Model, I can't predict who will be the winner anymore. Analeigh right now looks like a stronger contestant than McKey and Samantha... who will win? While I try to make up my mind, here are the pictures for the 12th shoot in Tyra's call-out order.

1. Analeigh (Week's best)
2. McKey
3. Samantha
4. Marjorie (Eliminated)

Carrie Underwood- "Just a Dream" Live @ CMA As

Easily the most emotional performance of the night, which received a standing ovation from everyone came from Carrie Underwood, who was later on quoted saying "Mama, it's really hard to sing when you're in the second row crying." performed her number one single "Just a Dream" at the 2008 CMA Awards. beautiful song, beautiful vocals, beautiful performance. Enjoy.

Taylor Swift- "Love Story" Live @ CMA Awards

Taylor Swift was among the list of performers for the 2008 Country Music Association Awards, where she performed her newly crowned #1 hit single "Love Story". Performers include the hosts themselves, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, Keith Urban and many more!

Race for #1: Early Predictions

According to first day sales reports, we can already picture who will come out at #1. However, instead of saying who it is, I'll be giving out obvious hints of their predicted first week sales.

Christina Aguilera's Greatest Hits Target exclusive album is heading towards first week sales of only 5 digits. All I've got to say is that this is MUCH lower than what I expected.

David Archulera's debut album will be one of the top debuts next week. First week sales preditcions for his album are nearly double the amount of what 2007 Idol winner Jordin Sparks sold the first week of her album's release.

Taylor Swift's Fearless is the other contender for the #1 spot. Her album is predicted to sell around the same amount Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride sold the first week, if not more.

T-Pain's Thr33 Ringz will be pulling in more than Christina but less than Archuleta.

Hilary Duff's Greatest Hits album first week sales prediction are just plain dissapointing.

Now, if you do some research... with the clue's I've given out, you'll be able to figure out who will be at #1 and how much each of them will sell over the week.

New Britney Spears Circus Promo Pictures

As we all know, the Britney Spears we all know and love is finally making a descent comeback! Her single "Womanizer" has already been #1 - and her album Circus is scheduled to hit stores on December 2nd. Here, we've got new high quality promo pictures from the album's shoot. Although she looks incredible, they would've looked better without all the photoshop work.

Hot Pick: Kevin Rudolf- "Let it Rock"

Yeah, this song has been out there for a while now... but it hasn't caught my full attention until now. "Let it Rock" is a chart-topping single released by singer Kevin Rudolf featuring rapper Lil Wayne from his album In the City. Check out the video, it's a great damn song. It's catchy stuff.

Taylor Swift's Miracle

First off, I must say I take my hat off to Taylor Swift's record label Big Machine Records. Somehow, they kept Taylor Swift's album Fearless from leaking before its official release! In today's world, albums leak a week or two before they are released... if not even sooner! Like I said, it's a miracle that her album has been kept from the internet so nicely. This only means one thing: bigger first week sales! Additionally, Fearless has been rated four out of five starts by Rolling Stone magazine, incredible! Success for this girl all around. Don't forget to buy your own copy of Fearless when it hits stores tomorrow November 11th.
