American Idol Top 4 - [What They Performed!]

James Durbin
"Don't Stop Believin" by Journey
"Love Potion" by The Clovers

Haley Reinhart
"Earth Song" by Michael Jackson
"I Who Have Nothing" by Ben King

Scotty McCreery
"Where Were You" by Alan Jackson
"Young Blood" by The Coasters

Lauren Alaina
"Anyway" by Martina McBride
"Trouble" by Elvis Presley

Hmm. I can't help but think Haley will be the one going home tonight, although in the past weeks she has proven to be a much better singer than the other three contestants. Honestly, Haley deserves to win this season! She was incredible tonight and even outdid her performance last week. Going home tomorrow should be Scotty, but we all know that this won't happen. I get discouraged by what America votes for, Scotty hasn't done anything special this entire season, he has done the same thing over and over, it has gotten old, boring, I wish he would go. My top 2 would be James and Haley.

My assessment is pretty simple tonight.

1. Haley- not sure what more she has to do to get the judges to like her. She did equally as well on both songs, but they had to rip her on the first one again.
2. Scotty- That first song he did tonight was one of the best performances put on that stage by anyone this whole season. He is going to win idol, and I have been saying that for several weeks, and I haven't changed my mind. The second song was a slight drop off for me, but it was still vocally perfect. The thing about scotty is he is just so smooth, he is a performer, and you forget its a singing competition when he is on stage.
3. Lauren- put simply she has grown over the past 3 weeks by leaps and bounds. I'm glad to see her putting it all together, because several weeks ago I had wanted her gone, now I'm glad she is still here
4. James- it has become apparent that with Casey gone, James is the judges golden boy. Dare I say his rendition of Journey border lined on unlistenable. Of course the judges ate it up. The second song he did was self indulgent and bordered on bad karaoke. The arrangement for that song was pretty bizarre. I'm actually a big fan of the coasters. They were ground breakers in the r&b game in the 50's and 60's. There is a lot of history there.

I think James takes his first trip to the bottom 2 this week and goes home.
