Weekend Box Office Report
And it is a HUGE opening weekend for Iron Man! The movie had an incredible debut at #1 kicking off nicely for the Summer Movie Season. Iron Man grossed 100 million dollars this past weekend. The Marvel Comics adaptation is the second-highest grossing opening weekend ever for a non-sequel movie just behind Spider-Man (2002) and slightly ahead of X2: Xmen United (2003). Great numbers for the film, which was made on a $140 million budget. Also opening nationwide was Made of Honor. The romantic comedy came in at #2 and grossed in a low $15 million dollars, this could be due to the fact that not only Iron Man was released the same weekend, but the movie lacks a lead female role opposite Patrick Dempsey.
