Mariah Carey's Memoirs Debuts at #3

While many were focused on a battle between Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" and Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" for the top slot on the Billboard 200 this week, Barbra Streisand trumps them both. "Love Is the Answer" earns Streisand her ninth No. 1 on the chart, opening with 180,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Answer" beats the arrivals of Paramore's "Brand New Eyes," which enters at No. 2 with 175,000, and Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," arriving at No. 3 with 168,000. First-week sales projections had estimated that Paramore would finish ahead of the two divas.

"Brand New Eyes" gives Paramore its best sales week and highest charting album ever. The band's sophomore album, "Riot!," peaked at No. 15 in 2007. "Eyes" also starts at No. 1 on the Top Digital Albums tally with a whopping 73,000 downloads.

Carey's "Memoirs" begins its Billboard 200 life with 168,000 -- off quite a bit from the opening of her last set, 2008's "E=MC2." The latter effort bowed at No. 1 with 463,000, her biggest first-week sum ever.

No Doubt will be going on tour this summer and they're taking Paramore with them! This is the group's official comeback, and I'm guessing they will be releasing their new album following the end of the Tour. Ah! Can't wait for this. After the wide success of their chart-topping singles "Misery Business" and "Crushcrushcrush", Paramore decided to make "That's What You Get" the third single from their already-certified Gold album, Riot! The music video for the song was shot in Nashville, Tenessee a few weeks ago and directed by Marcos Siega, who has directed videos for blink-182, Vanessa Carlton, Weezer, Lifehouse, and others. The video tells a great story revolving around a couple and a third-wheel person who seems to ruin their relationship. It's quite interesting, check it out.

This group has really started gaining recognition in the US lately. Some people call the group the possible next No Doubt, and others call the lead singer the next Avril Lavigne. However, I don't think they're THAT good. Their debut single "Misery Business" met unexpected success, and they have now released the second single from ther debut album, "Riot!" The song is called "Crushcrushcrush", check it out.
