Kristy Lee Cook says Underwood Killed Her Career

Kristy Lee Cook is speaking out against her former record label, Arista Nashville. The 'American Idol' alum says record execs spent too much time and money on another country 'Idol.'

"(Arista) released me again. It's because I was on the same label as Carrie Underwood," Cook tells the Grants Pass Daily Courier. "We're kind of glad that we got released because we weren't getting the attention we need."

Cook first signed with Arista at age 17 but was dropped before any music was released. She was re-signed to the label shortly after placing seventh on Season 7 of 'Idol,' and quickly released her debut album, 'Why Wait.'

"They promoted it a little bit," Cook says of Arista's attention to the album. "They spent so much more money on Carrie."

Cook's first single, '15 Minutes of Shame,' hit the Top 30 on the country charts, but no other singles from the album were officially released to radio. She says fans haven't heard her best music yet.

"I have a song that they didn't want me to put on the album that's going to be a hit," Cook insists. "I'm going to take it to another label ... We're talking with Universal right now."

[MP3] David Archuleta- "Crush"

Download Link:
American Idol finalists are fastly releasing their singles! First it was Kristy Lee Cook who released her single "15 Minutes of Shame" which is currently the most-added song on country radio. Now, it's time for Idol runner-up David Archuleta to release his debut single entitled "Crush". I must admit that although I disliked this kid beyond believe during Idol I actually enjoyed this single. It's a great Pop ballad that's gonna make this single a hit in no time. In fact, it reminded me of what Nick Lachey did on his album What's Left of Me. Download it, what do you think?

Listen to Kristy Lee Cook's Debut Single!

Click here to listen to "15 Minutes of Shame"
Yes, that's Kristy Lee Cook from the past season of American Idol. Look who got a record deal! Haha. Kristy has signed with Arista Nashville and is about ready to release her debut single called "15 Minutes of Shame" to country radio in coming days. Thankfully, KFrog radio have posted the song on their website under 'mistery artist' for us to enjoy. The song left me speechless, really. It's miles better than anything she ever sang on Idol and it has me wondering why she wasn't this good on the show? The song is fresh, catchy and great overall. I'm sure it will top country charts following its release. We can expect her major label debut album to hit stores this Fall.
