Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera Hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100
Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera now have the number one song in the US of A. Their collaboration "Moves Like Jagger" has jumped 4-1 to become Maroon 5's second chart-topper, their first was "Makes Me Wonder" in 2007 while it becomes Christina Aguilera's fifth appearance at the #1 spot and the first time in ten years! Her last time at #1 was also a collaboration, "Lady Marmalade" in 2001. "Moves Like Jagger" has sold over one million downloads.
Foster the People's single "Pumped Up Kicks" climbed 7-3, reaching a new peak. Hopefully this will be the next song to hit the top of the chart.
Katy Perry, who had the number one last week with "Last Friday Night" nearly dropped out of the top five this week, plummeting to #5.

Britney Spears' Fourth Single Off Femme Fatale Will Be...
Her tribute last night at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards may have been overhyped and turned out to be very disappointing, but today, we've gotten official word that Britney Spears will be releasing "Criminal" as the fourth single off her album Femme Fatale.
Britney said, "The song is really different and it's nothing I've heard like this before, so I really wanted to deliver this song and I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting. You'll have to see."
I can't wait! This is the best single choice Britney has made in a long time. I'm excited about this one. Great song!

Lady Antebellum on the Cover of Billboard Magazine
Pop success hasn't changed Lady Antebellum's direction or attitude. The trio, formed in 2006, is staying true. They've tasted big-time mainstream success, but they won't let it sidetrack them. "We can't feel like we've got to live up to that every time," says Kelley, the most philosophical of the three. "Because it just happened out of nowhere."
The "it" Kelley refers to is 2009's "Need You Now," the career-making single written by Lady Antebellum and Josh Kear. It propelled the group into another stratosphere of the music business. The song spent five weeks atop Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart at the end of 2009 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2010. It helped make the album of the same name the second-best-selling set of 2010 and made Lady Antebellum one of the brightest acts in any genre of music. A mix of country tradition and pop accessibility, with a rare blend of male and female singers, Lady A's music transcends geography and generation.
The tenuous nature of the music business helps drive Lady Antebellum's work ethic and intensifies the trio's appreciation of success. Scott's mother, country singer Linda Davis (a soloist and one-half of Skip & Linda) won a Grammy Award for the 1993 duet with Reba McEntire "Does He Love You," but has seen the highs and lows of the business. "I've watched my mom get signed and dropped by three or four different labels my whole life," Scott says.

Shakira Has Begun Working On New English Studio Album
Shakira has officially begun work on her 8th studio album, and it’s not going to be another Latin-rock affair — Shakira’s reinventing herself as a club queen!
While she hasn’t started recording yet, Shakira’s been having meetings and listening sessions with some of the top dogs in the dance world, starting with Dutch DJ Afrojack. According to Shakira-Media, she’s also planning to listen to material from some of top forty’s biggest hitmakers, like Dr. Luke, RedOne, Max Martin, and Benny Blanco, as well as world-renowned DJ Tiesto.
But don’t worry – Shakira isn’t going completely generic mainstream on us. She’s also enlisted underground New York club queen Venus X to help with the album, almost like a creative adviser, who will help her tap into dance sounds that haven’t been butchered to death on the Hot 100 just yet.
“I’m sending her a lot of hyrbrid-oriented stuff—Turkish reggaaton, a lot of kuduro that sounds like African trance,” Venus X tells The Fader. “Hopefully I’ll be able to introduce her to things that are working on the dance floor so she can translate and re-interpret them for universal pop.”
“Shakira wants to make dance music. She’s always been ahead of the curve. With “Ojos Asi,” she was doing Arabic instrumentals with Spanish vocals.”
The pair will hit the studio at the end of this month to begin working on new music.

Miranda Cosgrove Cancels Tour Due to Broken Ankle
Musikfest can now officially say it saw one of the last three concerts in Miranda Cosgrove's tour this year.
Cosgrove announced on her website Friday morning that all other dates on her Dancing Crazy Summer Tour have been canceled because of the broken ankle she suffered when her tour bus crashed Aug. 11 near Vandalia, Ill.
She had headlined a show at Bethlehem's Musikfest festival on Aug. 7, then played Aug. 9 at the Six Flags park in Gurnee, Ill., and Aug. 10 in Kettering, Ohio.
After the crash, representatives of the artist said her tour was postponed until further notice. The tour was to have resumed Aug. 12 in Wichita, Kan., and continue with 20 more dates through Aug. 23.
But the posting on her website said, "Due to the severe ankle injury she suffered in a bus accident last week, Miranda Cosgrove has to cancel the rest of her tour to take the time to properly recover, per doctor's orders.
"Miranda is heartbroken and thanks all the fans for their continued support. She is looking forward to touring again and seeing all her fans on tour next year."
The Musikfest show was Cosgrove's 18th of the tour. She also had played July 17 at Hershey Park and July 22 at Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

Sugarland Stage Collapses, Killing 5
The death toll has risen to five in the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in which 45 people were also injured.
The main stage collapsed on a crowd waiting for a Sugarland performance Saturday night at the Indianapolis fair after being blasted by winds as strong as 60 to 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The lead singer of the country band, Jennifer Nettles, expressed her horror in a statement to Associated Press, saying there were "no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity."
The victims were identified by the Marion County coroner's office as Tammy Vandam, 42, of Wanatah; Glenn Goodrich, 49, of Indianapolis; Alina Bigjohny, 23, of Fort Wayne; Christina Santiago, 29, of Chicago; and Nathan Byrd, 51, of Indianapolis, who died overnight.
WRTV Indianapolis reported Sunday that the number of injured had climbed to 45. The fair was shut down Sunday in the aftermath of the accident.
The accident, which occurred at about 9 p.m. Saturday, unfolded in a dramatic scene captured on a YouTube video. The towering stage equipment tumbled forward onto fans against a backdrop of darkened skies, a massive dust storm and gusty winds.
One woman could be heard saying, “Oh my God, oh my God!”
“It was like it was in slow motion,” concertgoer Amy Weathers told the Indianapolis Star. “You couldn't believe it was actually happening.”
At local hospitals, triage and family reunification rooms were set up. Shortly after the accident, Sugarland said on Twitter: “We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you will join us. They need our strength.”
In the chaos afterward, scores of concertgoers rushed to the stage to lift broken scaffolding and equipment off people.
“People put themselves in jeopardy…and it’s gratifying to know that at a moment’s notice people will jump in to help others,” said Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers.
No one was performing at the time of the collapse. The opening act had finished, and the crowd was waiting for Sugarland to take the stage. At the same time, the weather was worsening; there had been heavy rain and winds were picking up. State police were monitoring radar weather reports on their smartphones.
They had just decided to evacuate the grandstands and were putting officials in place to carry out the plan. But it wasn’t fast enough.
-----
This is scary and terribly sad. Our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. :(

Cher Lloyd's "Swagger Jagger" Debuts at #1!
The song may be musical diarrhea, but that didn't stop her fans from making it debut at #1 on this week's official UK singles chart. Cher Lloyd, as you may recall, finished fourth during the past season of the UK's The X Factor and has since released "Swagger Jagger" as her debut single. The song has also made its debut at #1 in Scotland and #2 in Ireland. You don't always have to win these shows to become a success.

See! You don't always have to win American Idol to make it. Heck, you don't even need to make it into the Top 8. Although the song isn't the best, I'm glad her talent won't go by unnoticed.

Sofia Vergara on the Cover of Redbook
On the positives of being a young mother: “When I had [my son] Manolo, I was 19, and I had the energy for everything. My boyfriend [Nick Loeb] now wants to have kids, and I don’t even want to think about it. I would have to get into that mind-set again, the waking up early.”
On when she started accepting her curves: “The thing is, I’ve had these ridiculously huge boobs since I was super young. Like, 13. I was really skinny at that time, so it was weird to have those f—ing boobs and be skinny. It was hideous. Then after I had my kid, I got hips and everything started to come together.”
On meeting her childhood crush Jon Bon Jovi: “When I was going to film [the upcoming movie] New Year’s Eve with [him] - I mean, in Colombia, he is the biggest thing. I grew up being in love with him. So when I saw him, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, it’s Bon Jovi!’ But when he saw me, he was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Gloria [from Modern Family]!’ Its just insane.”

Christina Aguilera and Eminem Working on A Duet?
"Christina knows after her last album bombed that she would have to do something special for fans to be interested in her music again. It’s a killer track and is bound to be a massive worldwide hit if released as a single, which is exactly what Christina is hoping for. She can’t wait to release the record and prove all her critics wrong."
Exciting if it's true!

Evanescence Talks About New Tour
Get More: MTV Shows
It's been nearly four years since Evanescence wrapped the tour in support of their The Open Door album ... and in the time since, as any fan of the band will tell you, Amy Lee and Co. spent most days doing anything but Evanescence.
Of course, all that has recently changed. Their self-titled comeback album is due in stores October 11, and the snarling first single, "What You Want," is waiting in the wings. Last weekend, they shot a video for the song, and they're gearing up for a massive world tour.
In a way, you could say they're making up for lost time, which has made the past month a rather hectic ride, indeed.
"We haven't started rehearsing [for the tour] yet, actually. ... It's just been a crazy run-around. We did a big photo shoot in L.A. for a couple days and I've been running around doing a lot of press," Lee told MTV News. "We're putting the album art together, getting the mixes done at the same time — I'm carrying my speakers around everywhere with me and, like, setting them up in different hotel rooms."
Evanescence have also been focused on finishing the track list for their album — a process made easier by the fact that they'll also release a deluxe edition that features all 16 recorded tracks — and finalizing the routing for that aforementioned tour. And then it's full-steam ahead ... regardless of whether everyone's ready or not.

Kelly Clarkson Starts New Girl Group
Kelly Clarkson has started her own girl group! Already Famous. The trio is Clarkson and her two back-up singers Jill Pickering and Kate Rapier. The ladies have recorded four songs, according to Idolator, pkus, while Pickering and Rapier may be relegated to back-up with Clarkson when touring with her, all three are equal when it comes to this new venture. They tweeted: “We switch on different songs. We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points.”
And how can you not love a band that swears it took its name from going to “Sephora and pick[ing] the funniest nail polish name. No deeper meaning.”
No word on if there is a formal release forthcoming, although we have Clarkson’s fifth studio album to look forward to sometime this fall.
In the meantime, here’s a link to teeny snippet of the trio singing in the studio.
