-The judges safe was used, which means next week two contestants will be eliminated. What a waste of the safe though... they should have saved it in case Lee, Casey, Crystal or Siobhan got cut unfairly anytime soon. Why couldn't Andrew get eliminated this week instead? The safe would still be there.

I'm pretty sure they can't use the save once they get into the top 5 or something, and so last year, they used it the last possible week, which made it pretty lame. They have to use it now while it's uncertain if they will. Anyways, the really good ones won't get cut. I'm not of fan of that guy, but better him getting saved than one of the little kids.
The safe last year was used Top 7 week, so they still had two more weeks to use it. But you're right, better use the safe on him.
Wouldn't have used. I have a feeling they're going to regret it soon too. As if next week won't be a disaster anyway: Lambert as mentor? Please. Now two people are going to go home as proximate result of his crappy guidance.
they had to use it week seven otherwise everyone would know that they would use it the next week, so therefore, week seven was the last possible week from the tv producers' perspective
this year they realized they had to use it before week 7
I have a questions, I didn't realize until tonight that for the finial performance the contestants don't necessarily sing what they sang the night before. (which makes sense, of course they should sing one of there best songs.) but was this just this week with michael or did didi and lacey sing their "best" song of the competition? I mean, if they didn't, I'm guessing that michael already knew he was going home because he would've had to rehearse his elimination performance with the band.

Yes, all the contestants so far have sang a song of their choice before elimination. Not necessarily the song they performed the night before.
