Despite being released twenty-seven years ago,
Michael Jackson's monster album
Thriller (1982) became the most-sold album of the past week in the United States. The sudden bump of sales is obviously thanks to his unexpected and sad passing. This doesn't end there though, Jackson - the King of Pop, has the not one but the three most-sold albums in America this week! That's right, not just
Thriller made the cut. His albums
The Essential Michael Jackson (2005) and
Number Ones (2003) follow at #2 and #3 respectively, all three of the albums selling well over 100,000 each. That's incredible. Other Jackson titles to appear on the best-sellers of the week include
Off the Wall (1979) at #14,
Bad (1987) at #25 and
Dangerous (1992) at #32. Note, however, that these albums are not allowed to chart on the Billboard 200, they will instead be charted on the Billboard Pop Catalog. Number one on the Billboard 200 will be
The E.N.D. by the Black Eyed Peas which sold 85,000 copies this week.
Update: It's also now been reported that Jackson's combined digital single sales will near a total of 2 million sold in just the past week. Wow!
