Underwood performs live at the 49th Grammy Awards, singing Bob Wills' ''San Antonio Rose,'' and takes home two trophies, including the award for Best New Artist.

March 8
Underwood returns to the show that made her famous, singing her newest single, ''Wasted,'' to 28 million viewers on American Idol.

March 24
With Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning as host, Underwood makes her first appearance on Saturday Night Live.

April 16
The video for Underwood's hit ''Before He Cheats'' wins three CMT Music Awards, including Video of the Year.

April 25
On a special episode of American Idol titled ''Idol Gives Back,'' Underwood releases a music video of the Pretenders' ''I'll Stand by You,'' chronicling her trip to Africa. iTunes makes her cover available for download, and the song becomes the first exclusively digital single to crash Billboard's top 10.

May 15
Escorted by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Underwood performs at the Academy of Country Music Awards and wins three trophies, including Album of the Year for the sextuple-platinum Some Hearts.

May 23
Underwood returns for the Idol finale, where she sings her version of ''I'll Stand by You'' live, and receives special recognition from producer Clive Davis for selling more than 6 million albums in the United States.

June 26
For the second time in three years, PETA names Underwood the World's Sexiest Vegetarian Woman.

Oct. 23
Underwood releases her second album, Carnival Ride, and performs in Times Square for Good Morning America. The album debuts at No. 1 and sells 527,000 copies that week.

Nov. 7
''Before He Cheats'' is the Single of the Year, and Underwood is named Female Vocalist of the Year at the 41st Annual CMA Awards.

Nov. 18
Underwood presents at the 35th annual American Music Awards and, in the Country category, takes home the trophies for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album.

Nov. 20
The day before Disney's Enchanted opens in theaters, Underwood's featured song ''Ever, Ever After'' is released on the film's soundtrack.

Carrie is the only country artist on the list and one of only four musicians!
