MTV Video Music Awards Personal Review

A joke! The show was a joke, I still can not get over the fact that this was the worst VMAs show on MTV history. I knew what train-wreck was on the way since I learned that MTV hd dropped so many classic categories from the awards and added other senseless categories as Quadruple Threat of the Year (What is that?!?!) Ok, the show was going to be on Vegas, "it should be good afterall," I was thinking, turns out that the stage was smaller than anything I've ever seen, and not to forget mentioning that not only was there no host, but also very few performed on that stage. Gee, I wonder why?.. there was no room to perform on it! Let's talk about the horrible performances. The so-awaited-for comeback of Britney Spears was horrible. To begin with, the woman did not even look like she wanted to be there, she looked rather drunk and dizzy. Her hair was hideous, the clothes she was wearing did not go with her current body weight, and to top it off, the lip sync was officially the worst lip synced live performance since Ashlee's 2004 SNL incident. Oh yeah, not to forget that not only her dancing was stiff and half-worked through, but the track also skipped ahead of her lips several times. MESS! Chris Brown lip synced too, and his track also moved ahead of his lips several times. Wow. Most of the other performances were not even introduced, they just aired random aritsts singing in random rooms in the Palms. The worst thing was that the complete performance was not even shown! The off-stage un-introduced performances were cut off half-way through. WHY?? Few performances can be qualified as good. Alicia Keys' "No One" was brilliant as well as Linkin Park's "Bleed It Out", and the very last nearly 10 minute-long performance which was a medley of Nelly Furtado's, Timbaland's and Justin Timberlake's latest hits plus their song "Give it to Me" was genious. Of course, not all was great. The winners, not all so bad, Rihanna got her very well earned awards and Beyoncé and Shakira won for Most Earthshattering Collaboration - that was good... but Shakira was not THERE! Bummer. But then Best New Artist comes around and Gym Class Heroes win, who are they? I mean, they had two hit songs, but honestly? Carrie Underwood sold six million albums in the U.S. alone and she's defenitely got more talent than most of today's artists, how could she had lost? Anyway, it gets worse, the show even had some technical problems, Pete from Fall Out Boy was asked to talk from a party in some room in the Palms and all we heard was music, Pete's microphone was turned off so we did not hear what he was saying, very smart MTV! In the end, I must agree with Justin Timberlake when he says "MTV, play more damn videos! We don't need to see the Simpsons on reality television". Word. To wrap it up, let mo do it on a brighter note, Sarah Silverman is hilarious, she picked on Britney Spears and her kids to make jokes on tonight, "They're just as cute as the hairless vagina they came out of," hahahaha. In the end, the show was crap and deserves no credits. If you missed this awards show, let me just say this: you are lucky!!! The end.

Didn't the producers see the rehearsals of that mess? I think they're just giving her rope to hung herself up. I do hope she can make a comeback though, that song is hot.

The song IS hot, she could've completely made a huge comeback, but she looked like she didn't give a damn.

Great review. I agree with everything you said except Sarah Silverman trashing Britney's kids. Obviously you are not a parent or else you would not have found that funny at all. As a mom, I feel strongly that kids should be OFF LIMITS especially saying that her kids were a "mistake". My husband wanted to turn the TV off after Silverman's flat and ridiculous monologue.

Sarah likes to make heavy jokes, but that's what she's paid for and people need to realize that they're just that, JOKES, you know? Jokes should never be taken seriously.

sarah silverman slept with God on her show on comedy central. kids aren't off limits. lol

They're jokes afterall. The best wat to get through them if they hurt is to laugh it off. Simple.
