Frankie from The Real World: San Diego Dies at 25
Frankie Abernathy from MTVs Real World: San Diego is reported to have succumbed to her hereditary disease of Cystic Fibrosis, Mucoviscidosis, as she passed away recently at the age of 25 as reported by The Pitch in Kansas City. The information of her death was provided to The Pitch by people within the firm Barkley where her father worked as an ad executive. Frankie showed signs of Cystic Fibrosis during the filming of The Real World: San Diego which caused her difficulty in breathing and lowered her immune system. Cystic Fibrosis Research states that 1 in 3,900 American children are born with this disease and that not even half survive to the age of 37. Frankie Abernathy was born on July 5th, 1981 and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri which is less than 20 miles away from Kansas City. She was the punk rocker of The Real World: San Diego cast and abruptly left the show on Halloween in 2003. Bunim-Murray Productions and MTV have no comment at this time. Frankie was too "punk rock" for the Real World, she had a lot of personal problems which were shown during the airing of the show in 2004. Her roomates Jamie, Brad, Robin, Cameran, Randy and Jacquese have yet to say anything about the news, they're probably just as shock as many of us are. I hope she's resting in peace in a better place. Frankie is the second former RW cast member to pass away from a disease, the first being Pedro Zamora from The Real World: San Francisco who passed away at age 22 from AIDS/HIV in November 1994, mere hours after the last episode RW San Francisco aired on TV.
