Jason Mraz Rockets to #1 on iTunes with New Single

Glad to see a great song at #1 on iTunes. It's been a while! Jason Mraz's new single "I Won't Give Up" was released Tuesday to iTunes and it reached the #1 spot the same day. The song is the first official single from his upcoming fourth studio album, which has yet to be given a title. This will be his first release since his 2008 effort We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.

"I Won't Give Up" has become my first favorite song of 2012. What a great track.

New Billboard Records!

Two Billboard Records were broken this week. Awesome news! First, the Black Eyed Peas are proving their hit power with one of the most successful come-backs ever. With this week, the Peas have now completed their 20th week in a row at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100! Their singles "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feelin'" spent twelve and eight weeks on top respectively. This is the most consecutive weeks any artist has spent at number one on the Hot 100 chart, leaving Usher behind, who scored 19 weeks back in 2004 with his singles "Yeah!" and "Burn".

The other record goes to Jason Mraz. His single "I'm Yours" is now the longest-charting single in Billboard Hot 100 history! With this week, the song has now spent a total of 70 weeks inside the chart leaving LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" behind with 69 weeks spent on the chart back in 1997. The best part? "I'm Yours" is showing no signs of falling off the chart just yet, this week it placed at #29! Incredible.

Let's see how high the Peas and Jason will raise the bar in coming weeks!

I was lucky enough to go out to see Jason Mraz live in concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey tonight (8/8/09)! I won a WPLJ radio contest which gave me two tickets for the concert as well as the opportunity to meet and greet Jason backstage. I have to say, he's a really laid back guy, pretty down to earth. Cool dude, would've liked to have talked to him a little longer. The show was amazing, I thought it was kind of short, but a great show nonetheless. Above you can see his performance of "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)". I filmed about five of his performances including "Make It Mine" which I posted below as well. I have other including "I'm Yours" - if I don't get too lazy, I'll upload them to YouTube. But check out the videos I have for now. Enjoy!

Jason Mraz's single "I'm Yours" is still inside the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, positioned at #29 on its 64th week on the chart. If the song reaches week 70 on the chart it will become the longest-charting single in Billboard Hot 100 history! That's not all, the single has also been certified 4x Platinum for digital sales of over 4 million copies. Crazy! Not as good as the original duet with Colbie Caillat, but a really good try. Jason Mraz has released the music video for his single "Lucky" which now features new scenes added in spanish as part of a duet with singer Ximena Sarinana. Love the song, I'm surprised it hasn't picked up on the radio here in the States.
