Disney Pixar's Cars 2 Pushed Back

Disney Pixar has announced that Cars 2 will be moving off of its June 24th 2011 release date all the way back to December 2011. No official reason was given for the shift.

Disney is also supposed to be releasing the animated film The Bear and the Bow in December of 2011. Clearly those plans will change.

Cars 2 was in a very competitive position for box office dollars in teh June 24th slot with The Green Lantern opening just the week before it and the box office juggernaut Transformers 3 set to release on the week after it... so it's not unlikely that the move to December was a business decision rather than a creative one (Avatar did pretty well with a December release date don't you think?).
