Carrie Underwood
has gone rock and roll on us, and she does a great job at it! Take a listen above to "Good Girl" - the first single from her yet-to-be titled fourth studio album. Carrie Underwood's Fourth Album Gets A Release Date

In anticipation of what is expected to be one of this year’s hottest album releases, it was announced today that Carrie Underwood’s new CD will be released on Tuesday, May 1. Produced by Mark Bright, the forthcoming album was featured in Entertainment Weekly’s recent “10 albums we can’t wait for.” This will be the fourth studio album on 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville for the five-time Grammy winner. The debut single co-written by Underwood, “Good Girl,” will be released to country radio on February 23.

Underwood’s February schedule is already gearing up with numerous appearances, performances, and events. Among those are “CMT Crossroads” with Aerosmith rock legend Steven Tyler (with initial airings on CMT Sat. Feb.4, 11pm ET and Sun. Feb 5th, 2am ET and 10am ET), an appearance at the 54th Grammy Awards, Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, a performance at the Nordstrom Nashville Symphony Fashion Show, and the digital release of her new single, “Good Girl.”

Since releasing Some Hearts in 2005, Underwood has sold more than 14 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On. She’s amassed 14 No. 1 singles, six of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums. Underwood is a current Grammy Award nominee and a five-time Grammy Award winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Carrie Underwood- "Good Girl" [Single Cover]

Anticipation for Carrie Underwood's follow-up to 2009's 'Play On' is building, and today the country superstar has inched her fans closer to a brand new track. 'Good Girl,' the first single from her yet-to-be-titled new album, will hit the airwaves on Feb. 23

Carrie has teamed up once again with 'Don't Forget to Remember Me' and 'All-American Girl' writers Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley for 'Good Girl,' a song she says "kicks butt!." "It's upbeat, it's fun, you stomp your feet, and you can dance to it," the singer reveals. "It's got this really rockin' verse, and this really rockin' country chorus. It's just a really cool song."

The 'American Idol' winner has also called upon longtime producer Mark Bright to help give the record a new country twist. As The Boot previously reported, Carrie's upcoming album will feature darker material than her past endeavors.

"I have always been a fan of songs that have attitude, but the ones I'm talking about have a darker storyline. It seemed to be what the album wanted, so I decided to roll with it," the singer tells Entertainment Weekly.

Carrie has also taken to YouTube to talk about 'Good Girl' and its forthcoming release. Check out the video below!

Carrie Underwood Fourth Album Update

Carrie Underwood doesn’t twitter or facebook, but she keeps her fans up-to-date through regular blog posts on her fan club site,

In her latest blog post this morning, the season 4 Idol winner and country music star revealed that she hit the studio to lay down 3 more tracks in the week before the CMA awards, bringing the total songs recorded for her 4th studio album to 9. She plans to record 4-6 more in early December before producer Mark Bright “takes over”.

Carrie says she’ll be doing a little more writing this week and plans to pen tunes up until the very last minute. Currently, she and her team are choosing the lead single. There’s lots of tempo, she says, with some really rocking songs. But she won’t forget the ballads, she’s currently locking in some great ones as we speak.

Carrie’s next album is set to be released in early 2012.
