Fantasia Barrino Released from Hospital After Suicide Attempt

Former 'American Idol' winner Fantasia Barrino was released from a North Carolina hospital on Wednesday, two days after she overdosed on aspirin and sleep aids, UsMagazine.com reports. The singer's overdose has been characterized as a suicide attempt by authorities.

Barrino's manager, Brian Dickens, confirmed her release in a statement: "She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans. She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work because they are her heart, her soul and inspiration."

Early Wednesday, Monday night's 911 call and the corresponding police report were released. Both referred to her overdose as a suicide attempt. In the 911 call, a male reports, "An individual took a bottle of Aspirin and she is slowly losing consciousness."

The overdose came several days after a lawsuit was filed by Paula Cook, alleging Barrino was having an affair with her husband and made a sex tape with him.

Barrino's manager released a statement Monday afternoon, saying the singer is "not responsible for the deterioration of the Cook's marriage" and that she will "weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout" her life.

So sad. :(

I don't get how someone who JUST tried to kill themselves gets released on their own in less than a week.
