David Cook's Brother Loses Battle Against Cancer


David Cook's brother Adam has died after a long battle with brain cancer.

According to David's official website, the "American Idol" winner announced his brother's death before the Race for Hope -- a 5k run which benefits brain cancer research -- in Washington, D.C. today.

Adam was 36.

David wrote the song "Permanent" about his brother's struggle with cancer on his self-titled album. Part of the lyrics says "I know he's living in hell every single day//And so I ask "Oh God is there some way for me to take his place?" You can listen to the incredible song above.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cook family. May Adam rest in peace.
