Speak Now on Track to First Week Sales of Over a Million

Country crossover star Taylor Swift won't be of drinking age until Dec. 13, but she's already celebrating, as Christmas comes early for the record industry.

The voice of a teen generation released her third album this week, Speak Now, on Scott Borchetta's Nashville-based Big Machine label along with Universal Republic, which has the industry partying like it's 1999, and we don't mean the sale price for a deluxe double album.

Between physical sales and a record-setting pace for digital downloads, the album forecast is between 900k and the magic million mark. The race to that milestone, the first album to do so since Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III in 2008, will provide a measure of suspense to next week's HITS sales chart, based on the response from those music retailers who haven't turned their storefronts into local Tea Party headquarters.

It would also be the largest first week for a Country artist since Shania Twain's Up sold 874k in Nov. 2002, and the first Country artist to go over a million since Garth Brooks' Double Live moved 1.085m in the good old days of Nov. 1998.

Swift's Speak Now is also approaching the year's top digital sales week, held by Eminem's Recovery, behind only Coldplay's Viva La Vida. The album immediately becomes a contender to topple the hip-hop-star's release for the year's best seller, which is now at 2.86m and counting.

Nicki Minaj- "Right Thru Me" [Music Video]

Ke$ha- Cannibal EP Tracklisting

1. Cannibal
2. We R Who We R
3. Sleazy
4. Blow
5. The Harold Song
6. Crazy Beautiful Life
7. Grow a Pear
8. C U Next Tuesday
9. Animal (Billboard Remix)

Avatar 2 and 3 Are Now Confirmed

James Cameron announced today that his next project will be two sequels to his 3D box office monster, Avatar.

The Academy Award winning director plans to write the screenplays for Avatar 2 and 3 early next year, and hopefully begin production by the end of 2011. Avatar 2 is tentatively scheduled to be released in December of 2014, with Avatar 3 arriving the following year.

Exciting!

Ke$ha Takes Taylor Swift Down on iTunes

Well, I didn't see this coming! Taylor Swift dominated iTunes charts for most part of today, but a new single has come up from behind to claim that #1 spot. The song is "We R Who We R" - the new single by Ke$ha, off her upcoming EP Cannibal. Surprising!

Shakira's Surprise Parking Lot Performance

"What's the most Loca thing you can do when you've just played a sold out arena show in Anaheim (10.25.10)? If you're Shakira, you head out into the parking lot and do a surprise encore of your new single on the roof of a car..."

Haha! Nice.

The Veronicas for PETA

Australia pop duo The Veronicas have joined the ranks of celebs speaking out against the use of fur in a graphic new advertising campaign.

Singing twin sisters Jess and Lisa Origliasso flew in to Sydney this week to unveil their gory new anti-animal cruelty advertisement in cooperation with controversial animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

While The Veronicas don’t go naked like many of PETA’s other celebrity centerfolds — ie: Eva Mendes, Kimora Lee Simmons, and fellow Australian Sophie Monk — the ad shocks nevertheless. Smartly-dressed, Jess and Lisa each hold a skinned rabbit with the caption “Here’s the Rest of Your Fur Coat” in a mock fashion shoot.

The girls say they were compelled to join the PETA movement after being shown videos of Chinese fur farms skinned animals alive for their fur.

“Designers that still use fur, to us it is just ignorant, it is unnecessary and it is unacceptable,” says Jess, who encourages others to patronize trendy retailers, such as Forever 21, JC Penney, and Urban Outfitters, who do not use fur in their designs. “We don’t want to be an ignorant generation, we want to inform people. We can be the generation that makes the difference. Wearing fur is unnecessary and unacceptable.”

Taylor Swift's Speak Now - First Week Sales Predicition

Taylor Swift's, Speak Now, on Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine and the Lipmans’ Universal Republic labels, is exploding at retail in a way that has initial first-week sales estimates between 800-900k and could go higher.

Swift appears a lock to turn back the year’s previous first-week sales record, set by Eminem’s Shady/Aftermath/Interscope album, Recovery, in June, with 742k.

WHOA! That's amazing. Congrats Swift!

I like the album's cover! But I'm not sure about the single. Thoughts?

Jessica Simpson- Happy Christmas Album Cover

Jessica Simpson recently teamed up with the Marines for a one-of-a-kind duet! She and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class John Britt recorded a song together on the U.S.S. Harry Truman, and she and John will travel to New York together to perform at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting!

“We were thrilled to have Ms. Simpson out here,” said Capt. Joe Clarkson, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Harry Truman. “I appreciate her selflessness in giving her time to tell Sailors and Marines how much she appreciates their service. I hope that she realizes that her short time on board really did raise morale and make a difference.”

Happy Christmas is scheduled to be released on December 7, 2010. Jessica also has a Christmas TV special airing on PBS next month!

Kanye West's New Album Cover Banned

Kanye West unveiled the new cover for his fifth studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy yesterday, and today, he took his Twitter account to vent out his frustration about claims that it has been banned in the US.

Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!Banned in the USA!!! They don’t want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix!

In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now.

So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings
