Anticipation for Carrie Underwood's follow-up to 2009's 'Play On' is building, and today the country superstar has inched her fans closer to a brand new track. 'Good Girl,' the first single from her yet-to-be-titled new album, will hit the airwaves on Feb. 23

Carrie has teamed up once again with 'Don't Forget to Remember Me' and 'All-American Girl' writers Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley for 'Good Girl,' a song she says "kicks butt!." "It's upbeat, it's fun, you stomp your feet, and you can dance to it," the singer reveals. "It's got this really rockin' verse, and this really rockin' country chorus. It's just a really cool song."

The 'American Idol' winner has also called upon longtime producer Mark Bright to help give the record a new country twist. As The Boot previously reported, Carrie's upcoming album will feature darker material than her past endeavors.

"I have always been a fan of songs that have attitude, but the ones I'm talking about have a darker storyline. It seemed to be what the album wanted, so I decided to roll with it," the singer tells Entertainment Weekly.

Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" Rises to Number One on Billboard And Breaks Yet Another Record

"Set Fire to the Rain" is Adele's third number one, joining "Rolling in the Deep" (which spent seven weeks on top last year) and "Someone Like You" (five total weeks in 2011). Of course, 21 is also the number one album in the country this week, which means that Adele rules both charts simultaneously. That's not necessarily a remarkable feat, as plenty of artists have lorded over both charts simultaneously, and 10 artists have even done it with two songs (most recently, Usher pulled it off with the Confessions singles "Yeah!" and "Burn" back in 2004). But in an interesting bit of trivia, Adele is now the only artist in history to rule both charts with three different singles from the same album. Scoring three number ones is tricky business, but scoring those hit singles while still keeping your album sales robust is more or less impossible. What's more impressive is that Adele continues to climb these charts and break these records without much promotion, as she has only recently emerged from a brief sabbatical she took to recover from vocal cord surgery.

Katy Perry Re-Releasing Teenage Dream

Katy Perry gave fans their Teenage Dream when she dropped the album back in 2010, and now fans should expect to experience a bit of déjà vu.

The singer will drop a re-release of the album on March 13. Playing up the album's sugary-sweet imagery, it will be called Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. While little else is known about what will appear on the album, producer Tricky Stewart did shed some light on the project when he spoke to MTV News last fall. He teased that several tracks that didn't make the final cut for Teenage Dream were being reworked for this project.

"Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn't end up going on Teenage Dream," he said in October. "So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on."

While the track listing for the re-release is still unknown, Tricky did shed light on one particular song. "This song is really special. It's called 'Dressing Up,' so it's going to be a big record, I think," he said. "It definitely fits. It's right there in what her sensibilities are as a musician and a songwriter. She doesn't change much. She has a very keen musical taste. It'll be really good."

"We always knew that the records we created were special [and] at the time it was more contractual obligation [that they didn't make the record]," he added. "I can only have so many songs produced by me on the record. She didn't need to have extra songs at the same time."

In addition to the new album news, Katy tweeted about ending her California Dreams Tour over the weekend in Manila. She dedicated the last show to a fan who had committed suicide. "I hope you're finding peace up there on that pink cotton candy cloud. I dedicate this last show to u, sweet dreams angel #RIPKatyCatAllie," she tweeted.

Perry is expected to next appear at the Grammy Awards, where she is up for two awards.

Madonna's forthcoming album officially has a title. The pop queen's 12th studio LP will be called M.D.N.A., representatives for the singer confirmed to MTV News on Wednesday (January 11).

Madonna announced the album title during a taping of the U.K.'s "Graham Norton Show," which will air Friday on BBC One. While making the press rounds in support of her film "W.E.," she has offered up a few details on her much-anticipated album, which is reportedly due in late March. On Thursday, "Nightline" is set to air a "candid and revealing" interview with the singer, in which she answers fan questions and addresses talk about a rumored rivalry with Lady Gaga.

The singer recently confirmed that M.D.N.A. will be released as part of her new three-record deal with Interscope. The first single from the project, "Gimme All Your Luvin," features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.; it's set for release later this month ahead of Madonna's performance at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show on February 5 in Indiana

I've been extremely busy with the holidays, but now that it's all coming to an end, I will be able to return to updating the blog more regularly. Unfortunately, with my lack of updates, I've also noticed a huge drop in page views. They've dropped to numbers I haven't seen in over three years, so I hope I will be able to turn that around.
