Britney's Glee Episode Sets Ratings Record

Fox's Glee rose in the ratings to a series high thanks to its eagerly anticipated tribute to Britney Spears.

Glee drew 13.3 million viewers and a 5.8 preliminary adults 18-49 rating -- dominating the night, rising 4% from its mammoth premiere last week and scoring the pop-drama's biggest rating ever.

I saw this coming. Congrats to them!

'Dexter' Kills in the Ratings for Showtime

Serial killer series Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall, returned last night on Showtime to big ratings.

In fact, according to the cable channel, the fifth-season debut - which drew 2.3 million total viewers over two airings at 9 and 11 p.m. - marked the series' highest-rated premiere ever and the best season premiere for a Showtime original series in 15 years.

The story line picked up right where it left off in last season's finale, with Dexter returning home to discover wife Rita's bloody corpse in the bathtub.

According to Ausiello Files, the former 'Lizzie McGuire' star will guest on NBC's 'Community.' Duff is set to play the leader of a clique that takes on Jeff and co.

Besides her Disney series, Duff appeared in a handful of 'Gossip Girl' episodes last season, did a guest spot on 'Law & Order: SVU' and popped up in 'George Lopez' and 'Joan of Arcadia.'

As much as I care for all of the girls, I’m going to do what’s best for Melody from this point forward. I need to do what I want to do.

Her current label situation:
Yeah, I’m not at Interscope. I haven’t taken what’s been offered because I feel I deserve better. I believe in putting your best foot forward and swinging for the fence, and I’m going to have the kind of enthusiastic CEO behind me who’s like, ‘Yeah! That’s what it is!’ And I’m not afraid to wait for that. I am funding and recording on my own. And I love Interscope, by the way. They’re one of the best. [Jimmy Iovine] knows what he’s doing. If he loves you, you got it. It’s like why would I marry someone just because they have money? I also need to be loved. I need to be cherished.

Her solo career:
For me, it’s important for people to know that I do write. I will be writing the majority of what I am singing because it’s important to me for an artist to actually be talking about something that came from them as opposed to being manufactured in that way.

It’s gonna be fun, but at the same time, there’s an underlying message for people. Like I said, it’s important for the underdog to prevail at some point and reinforce faith in people. Music should move you. It shouldn’t just be fun. It’s not all about fun. Life is about ups and downs, so that’s what my music will have.

“Oh Santa,” the first single from Mariah Carey’s new Holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, is currently scheduled to premiere at radio on Monday, October 11th.

And on Tuesday, October 12, the song will be available for download on iTunes.

Her Christmas album will hit stores on November 1st.

Nelly Furtado Releasing Greatest Hits Album

Today it has been announced Nelly Furtado will release a greatest hits compilation on the 15th November. The Canadian born singer was due to release her fifth album “Lifestyle” earlier in the year however the release date was cancelled and there has since been no word on the album. It’s expected “Lifestyle” will be released at a later date next year. The compilation is available for pre-order now at selected retailers.

Nelly will join other artists P!nk & Jay-Z who are also releasing greatest hits compilations in November.

Zac Brown Band & Maroon 5 To Battle It Out For #1

Zac Brown Band’s You Get What You Give is their first studio album since 2007’s double-platinum The Foundation, which has sold 2.3 million to date. The Atlanta-based outfit’s latest is on target for between 145-155k in sales.

Meanwhile, Maroon 5 return with their third studio album, the Mutt Lange-produced Hands All Over, their follow-up to 2007’s double-platinum It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. Based on first-day figures, the album should do between 140-150k, a far cry from the 430k it scored back then.

American Idol Judges First Official Picture

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. We all knew this, but now it's been announced officially. What do you think? I actually like this lineup.

But this is not the only change this season, contestants will get to perform in their own genres every week! No more county singers singing rock and vice versa. Themes will focus on decades rather than genres. “It’s really important to develop what they are good at,” says Nigel Lythgoe.

There will be NO guest mentors. Jimmy Iovine will be the “resident in-house” mentor and will work with the kids every week.

The kids will be pushed to improve, to become, “better and more interesting” than in past seasons, “developing the young artists the way they would anyone who signs with the label.”

Nigel says after Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, there were no Idols. “We have got to go back to creating American Idols,” he says. Backstories aren’t going away any time soon. “We’ve still got to get to know these kids,” says Nigel.

Bruno Mars Arrested

Singer and songwriter Bruno Mars was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession early Sunday morning at the Hard Rock, Las Vegas police confirmed.

Sgt. John Sheahan said Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, was arrested about 2:40 a.m. Sheahan said Hard Rock security confronted him in a bathroom and discovered him with narcotics.

Sheahan did not know Sunday afternoon what drug Mars possessed.

Mars has soared to popularity this year. He is known for singing and also for co-writing the hits 'Nothin' On You' by B.o.B, and 'Billionaire' by Travie McCoy. He also co-wrote 'Right Round' by Flo Rida.

On Saturday, Mars had tweeted his fans asking them to come watch him perform at the Hard Rock.

No Doubt Update!

No Doubt members made use of L.A.M.B.’s fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to talk about the progress of their first album in almost a decade. Gwen Stefani, who strutted on the runway earlier that evening in her own design, said they are on a “snail pace” but the album will be worth it when it comes out next year.

Her bandmate Tony Kanal was more elaborate in describing project, telling Wall Street Journal, “It’s great. We haven’t wrapped it yet. We have about nine ideas and we’re just moving along and it feels amazing. Honestly, we’re having the best time of our lives.” No Doubt took hiatus after the release of 2001′s “Rock Steady” when each of them was preoccupied with solo projects.

The album which is “too early” to be given a title and release date, will be influenced by the ’80s as well as Jamaican music like ska and reggae.

Kanal also talked to Billboard.com, revealing that there’s a big tour coming after the album. “I think it’ll be even bigger,” Kanal said, “and when I say bigger I mean more shows and around the world.”

Lindsay Lohan Fails Drug Test

Lindsay Lohan failed the court-mandated drug test -- and according to the terms of her probation, she will go back to jail for 30 days as a result.

Lindsay has also just released the following statement via Twitter:

Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result. Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences. I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand that i am trying hard, but also that I am a work in progress, just as anyone else. I am keeping my faith, and I am hopeful....Thank you all!!!

So sad. :( Get it together, Lindsay! You were just in jail and rehab... obviously you learned nothing.

Lady Gaga Speaks About Her New Album 'Born This Way'

Lady Gaga has opined that her new album will "change the world".

The singer, who recently announced the LP's title as Born This Way, believes her music has the ability to liberate people.

"The album is my absolute greatest work I’ve ever done and I’m so excited about it. The message, the melodies, the direction, the meaning, what it will mean to my fans and what it will mean in my own life - it’s utter liberation."

"I knew I had an ability to change the world when I started to receive letters from fans. They have related to me as a human being and as a non-human being - as a super-human person that I truly am."

"Everyone tells me I’m arrogant but my music’s the only thing I’ve got, so you’ll have to let me be confident about one thing. I suppose that’s what you can expect from the album: a lot of hit records that will piss people off.

"Beyoncé said: ‘Where the f**k do you get these ideas from?’ And I was like: ‘I don’t know Bee, it was just the way I was born'."

Weezer performed their new single "Memories" live at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The song is off their album Hurley and the soundtrack to Jackass 3D. Not my favorite song from the, to be honest.

P!nk Releasing Greatest Hits Album in November

P!nk is coming out with a Greatest Hits album this 22 of November! The 'So What' singer has recorded and released 5 studio albums which combined have sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Director Cole Wallier, who worked with Pink on her 'Funhouse' tour, revealed that he was shooting a music video with her via his Twitter page.

He wrote: "I have 10 days to cut a music video, shoot with Pink, cut 2 new pieces (maybe TV spot) for her, cut my directors reel + pilot TV Show."

Photographers United Stacks tweeted a picture of the popstar next to several motorbikes, with the caption: "Brought some bikes out to Pink's album cover photoshoot..."
