The Lazarus Effect Campaign PSA

(RED) is introducing The Lazarus Effect Campaign, intended to increase awareness for its efforts to fight AIDS in Africa.

The campaign, directed by renowned photographer Brigitte Lacombe, has celebrities rattle off items that could be bought for 40 cents (the value of one day’s worth of life transforming antiretroviral medication).

Kris Allen's Second Single Off His Debut Album

Kris Allen has chosen the song titled "The Truth" to be the second single of his self-titled debut album out everywhere. There's a twist though, this is not the version that appears on the album, Kris re-recorded the song to add the vocals as part of a duet from Train's frontman Pat Monahan, who co-wrote the song. Shakira New Album Update

Less than six months after releasing her English album She Wolf, Shakira is back at work on her next project, Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned.

Producer Jim Jonsin (T.I., Beyoncé) and songwriter Rico Love (Usher, Diddy) were in the studio with the Colombian bombshell earlier this month. “I worked with Shakira a few weeks ago in Miami. We did two sessions together,” Rico told Rap-Up TV. “She’s working on another album.”

Fans of the “Gypsy” can expect to see her shake her famous hips once again with the new music, which Rico described as having a “more pop, edgy” sound. “She wanted to really dance on this record and do what made her famous in America, a ‘Whenever, Wherever’-type vibe,” he revealed.

Despite her global superstar status, there were no diva antics in the lab. “She’s really a sweetheart. We got along really good,” said Rico. “She understands what she wants, she knows her strong points, and she demands that.”

On July 11, Shakira will perform “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official song of 2010 FIFA World Cup, at the closing ceremony before the FIFA World Cup Final at Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium in South Africa.

Glee Doing a Britney Spears Episode

Good news for Britney Spears and Glee fans: series creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that an all-Britney episode of the hit Fox musical, an idea floated by Spears’ manager via twitter on April 21 after Tuesday’s all-Madonna Glee, is actually being considered. Says Murphy, “I’m interested in the Britney Spears idea. I’ve always loved her. I’m entertaining it. I think young kids would like that.” Murphy also says that he’s contemplating doing similar hour tributes to Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, and, even, Courtney Love! “I actually ran into Courtney Love the other day and talked to her,” says Murphy. “She’s interested. I would love to have the kids do a Courtney Love episode one day.” But he stresses that with all of these artists it really all comes down to the music and how it fits in the Glee universe. “The key is the songs in the catalogue have to have a certain degree of theatricality,” says Murphy.

With the “Power of Madonna” soundtrack set to debut at #1 next week and dominating the iTunes download charts, Murphy says Madonna has been more than pleased with their treatment of her tunes. “She said how much she loved the episode,” he admits. “She thought it was brilliant and she’s so pleased. Her daughter got to watch it with her and loved it. [Madonna's] a smart cookie. I mean that introduced her music to an entire new generation.” - source.

Shakira New FIFA World Cup Single Cover

We're very excited to announce that a brand new Shakira song has been chosen as the the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. You can see the artwork for the track, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” by Shakira featuring Freshlyground, above.

The song will be performed by Shakira and South African group Freslhyground, at the Closing Ceremony before the World Cup Final on July 11 in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium. The chorus borrows from a favorite Cameroonian marching chant made popular by the group Golden Voices.

“I am honored that Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) was chosen to be part of the excitement and the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” said Shakira. “The FIFA World Cup is a miracle of global excitement, connecting every country, race, religion and condition around a single passion. It represents an event that has the power to unite and integrate, and that’s what this song is about.”

Shakira continued, “African music is so inspiring and is poised to take its place on the global pop culture stage. I was proud to be able to work with one of South Africa’s most acclaimed groups, Freshlyground.” The song was co-produced by Shakira's frequent collaborator, John Hill.

The music video for the song will premiere in mid-May.

Christina Aguilera Answers to Akon's Comments

Akon spoke recently at an interview for Vibe magazine where he said that Christina Aguilera is not competition for Lady GaGa and that in fact, people are giving Christina too much credit by comparing her to GaGa. Now, Christina Aguilera has spoken, and here's what she had to say about the comparisons:

"It just comes with the territory. That, in particular, is not even worth wasting the breath to comment on. I've been around for over a decade and I think my work speaks for myself."

And let the GaGa/Aguilera fan wars continue. I've been told the GaGa fans are now feeding off the fact that Christina on her new album has a song titled "Game Face" and another titled "Don't Page Me" which to them suspiciously sound like they might have something similar to "Poker Face" and "Telephone". David Guetta Talks About New Music Video

David Guetta has filmed the music video for his new single, "Gettin' Over" which features Fergie and LMFAO. Here's what the DJ told MTV News on a recent intervew about the video:

"The video is the story of what happened to me when I came to produce 'I Gotta Feeling' for the Black Eyed Peas, it was my first time in that studio called Record Plant. I was so impressed, and we started to work with Will.I.Am and more and more artists were coming to say, 'Hello,' and were like, 'Oh, this music is different.' And they were staying. Christina Aguilera’s “Not Myself Tonight” enters the Hot 100 at #23 and Hot Digital Songs at #15. It’s the first single from Bionic, her fourth regular studio album, which is due on June 8. Aguilera’s first three regular studio albums all reached #1 or #2 on The Billboard 200. Aguilera has amassed eight top 10 hits on the Hot 100, stretching from her first single, 1999’s “Genie In A Bottle,” to 2008’s “Keeps Gettin’ Better.”

It's bittersweet news. It is a pretty good debut, but the song has been droping like a brick on iTunes which means the song will also take a dip down the chart next week. Hopefully this won't end up being the song's peak. Lady GaGa's "Alejandro" is taking off faster than this single. How about that.

Earth Day - Five Easy Tips for Going Green

For those who may not yet know, today is Earth Day! Which is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. There are hundreds of little things you can do to help the environment and here are five easy tips you can follow to help not only your pocket but also the Planet.

1. Stop Idling
Every moment you spend idling your car's engine means needlessly wasting gas, as well as rougher wear on your vehicle. Idling for more than 10 seconds wastes more gas than is needed for startup. Overall, Americans idle away 2.9 billion gallons of gas a year, worth around $78.2 billion.

2. Turn Off Your Computer
Save energy and wear and tear on your hardware by shutting down your computer at night. You'll save an average of $90 of electricity a year. The Department of Energy recommends shutting off your monitor if you aren't going to use it for more than 20 minutes, and the whole system if you're not going to use it for more than two hours.

3. Turn Down the Thermostat
It definitely pays to give a thought to your here and thermostat, since most households shell out 50 to 70% of their energy budgets on heating and cooling. For every degree you lower the thermostat, you'll save between 1 and 3% of your heating bill. Do the same thing in reverse with air conditioning.

4. Wash Your Laundry in Cold Water
An easy way to clean green is to turn the dial on your washing machine to cold. Most loads don't need hot water, and 90% of the energy used by washing machines goes into heating. The higher the water temperature, the higher the cost to you and the planet.

5. Pay Bills Online
Save natural resources -- as well as late fees -- by enrolling in online bill-paying options. Paperless billing not only saves trees, it also eliminates the fossil fuel needed to get all those billing envelopes from them to you and back again. Plus, you'll save money on stamps.

David Cook and Carrie Underwood were the only Idol winners to take part of this year's Idol Gives Back, which is a little suprising to me. But anyway, David traveled to Ethiopia to film a report for the show. Really eye-opening. Check that out above. By the way, the song David sings in the video is titled "Heroes" for those wondering.

Carrie Underwood performed her song "Change" live at Idol Gives Back tonight. Watching this performance, I can say it's no surprise why she remains the most successful contestant Idol has launched so far. The girl is incredible and she easily had the best performance of the night. Enjoy!

I think Tim lasted way too long in this competition. About time he got eliminated. And let this be a wake-up call for Casey. I predicted he would be Top 4, but the man's getting boring. All his performances, with the exception of "Jealous Guy" have all sounded the same to me.

The Power of Madonna Lands Glee at #1

The combined Power of Glee and Madonna will result in a chart-topping debut for Columbia’s third compilation of songs from Ryan Murphy’s pop zeitgeist show on Fox.

With last night’s episode revealing Sue Sylvester’s lifelong obsession with the Material Girl, as well as seven set-pieces incorporating some of her biggest hits, Glee: The Power of Madonna will bow at #1 on next week’s chart with a total of 100-120k.

That’s based on one-day sales reports from retailers around the country who haven’t transformed their stores into Jamba Juice locations. With the album #1 at iTunes, and six of its seven tracks in the Top 100, including “Like a Prayer” at #3, it remains to be seen how physical retail will react in gauging its final total.

Meanwhile, Columbia should nab at least two of the top three spots on next week’s chart, with AC/DC’s Iron Man 2 soundtrack looking for a total between 80-100k.-HitsDailyDouble

Christina Aguilera to Perform Live at American Idol

Christina Aguilera will perform on the American Idol season nine finale on Wednesday, May 26.

The 29-year-old singer confirmed the news with Atlanta’s Star 94 FM radio station.

Christina also told Atlanta’s Q100 Bert Show that she’s not ashamed of her sexuality —
even in the presence of her 2-year-old son Max.

She shared, “I think it’s important that he sees mommy not be ashamed for her sexuality… We’re art collectors, there are a lot of female nudes around the house. Max will be growing up in a house where it’s just the norm… It’s only weird when you shame it. I’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I think I’m even a more sexual Christina.”
